FLORAART
June 1st - 5th 2005

Love towards flowers and plants is a
reflection of worshipping of nature in one of the rare forms allowed
in today's society. Floraart, Zagreb flowers fair, is a manifestation
devoted to the art of plant growth, gardening and decoration of public
surfaces. It might be called a homage to the beauties of nature. This
year, Boćarski dom was the place where the 40th gardening show took
place.

Besides in the colorful flowery sights, the visitors could also enjoy
the work of artisans. There was a reconstruction of a water-mill that
produced flower, there was a presentation of pottery making, and in
one of the exhibition houses Mina Petra and her knitting women showed
their creations. They are now steady exhibitors on Floraart, and along
with the growth of interest in folklore motifs all over the world, the
interest of passengers in their knitting and weavings inspired by ethnological
heritage grows, too.

The exhibition area of Hrvatske
šume (Croatian forests), a firm involved in protection of our country's
green treasures, is rather exemplar. It showed the co-life of the man
and the forest. This stall precisely, enriched with a forest beehive,
heavy wooden furniture, a water- mill, remind us of the simplicity of
ancient times. It awakens the desire for those times when many a man
were artisans, using their hands in creative and practical purposes,
and nowadays, the objects produced in that manner are considered a luxiury
disappearing under the patronage of industry.

As in the past years, this fair surprises each visitor with never-ending
ideas of the florists and gardeners, but most of all it enchants us
with the immense beauty of the world's fauna.
